General Rules - Adult Basketball Leagues
Game fees MUST be paid by the second game of the session.
No roster changes after the second game of the session. If changes need to be made due to hardship such as injuries or players moving out of the area, the Sports Office needs to be contacted at least 3 days prior to the game the new player will play so we can add to the pre-printed roster. New player must have a passport to be added to the pre-printed roster. It is the responsibility of the team captain or manager to assure this happens. After the second game of the session scorekeepers have been instructed to NOT hand write players to the roster.
Game Rules - Adult Basketball Leagues
The Official Collegiate rules for the current season shall be used to govern play with the following additions and exceptions:
- Games will consist of two twenty minute halves with a 5 minute halftime.
- A running clock will be used for the first 19 minutes of the first half . Running clock for the first 18 minutes of the second half . The clock will stop for team timeouts and official timeouts. Stop time in the last minute of the first half and last 2 minutes of the game. Clock will not stop on made baskets in the last minute of the game.
- No stop time if there is a 15 or more point differential in the game.
- Clock will run during free throw attempts except during the last minute of the first half and last 2 minutes of the game.
- In case of a tie there will be a 3 minute overtime with stop time . If a tie exists after the first overtime a sudden death overtime will be played, starting with a jump ball. The first team to score is declared the winner. No game shall end in a tie.
- Teams must have 'like' jerseys with numbers.
- A team may start with 4 registered players (3 or less is a forfeit).
- Any player who commits their fifth personal foul is automatically disqualified from further play for that game.
- Each team will receive 2 timeouts per game and one additional timeout during the first overtime period. No timeouts during sudden death play. Penalty for excessive timeouts is a technical foul.
- Dunking is not allowed during warm-ups. Penalty is a technical foul to start the game.
- The 3-point shooting rule will be used.
There will be a shaughnessy style tournament at the end of league play. In case of a tie the criteria for playoff seeding will be 1) head to head results, 2) point differential in head to head games, and 3) record against other teams in the playoffs.
University of Sports Conduct Rules shall be obeyed. Team coaches and managers are responsible for the conduct of their spectators. If you cannot control your fans the facility Manager on Duty will be called to deal with the situation. Please remember this is a private club and the possibility of banishment exists.
Anyone receiving an Unsportsmanlike technical foul MUST immediately sit out 10 consecutive minutes. A second Unsportsmanlike technical foul in the same game is an automatic 2 game suspension. The league manager will review all situations where the same player receives 2 technical fouls in the same game for further disciplinary action, up to possible removal from the league. The league manager will review Unsportsmanlike technicals by this same person in any subsequent game of the current session.
